Saturday 12th July saw me returning to London to play two gigs. I travelled on Saturday morning by train with 3 of my mates, before heading to Tooting to play the first of the two gigs. The event was called Ultrafunk, and was their outdoor event for the summer, which was held in the promoters back garden, which held around 200 people. The fun and games started at 2PM, and went on 16 hours later, finishing at 6AM. During the daytime there was some funky fun in the sun, with a BBQ, vodka-shot bar(12 flavours), a beefy soundsystem, bubble-blowing machine, huge punch buckets, spacehopper races, plus Giant Games of Jenga, Connect 4 and Twister!!
People were relaxing on the sofas, swinging in the hammocks and dancing on the speically erected dancefloor. At dusk the garden was transformed for some night-time mischief, with fireworks, fairy lights, garden flares, fire-juggers and UV performers. I played 7-8PM, and it was awesome to play Al Fresco on what was one of the warmest days of the year yet as it reached nearly 85 degrees. It was also good to see my brother come to see me, as it was the first time that he has seen me play live. I played a set of uplifting, more vocally tunes, which seemed to go down well. The only problem was the temptation of alcohol left, right and centre, as I knew I had another gig a few hours later, and I didnt want to get too inebreated!

At around 11pm, we left en route for Turnmills, in Farringdon, for my second set of the night. In the main room was Ian M and BK playing for Heat, whilst I was to be playing in the funky back room for Thirsty DJs, who host their monthly residency at the Retox Bar, in Covent Garden. The whole club was absolutely packed, I don't think I have ever been in a club as packed! I was due to be playing 4-5 so stayed in the room for a few hours to check out the DJs before me, so I could get a feel for the sounds which were popular in the crowd's eyes. The DJs on before me were shit hot, and I knew I had to play pretty well just to be as good as them! The general tunes that were going off were the big summer tunes, with vocals so that's what I stuck to. I played the likes of Lee Cabrera's Shake It Vs DJ Sneak, Junior Jack's Thrill Me Vs Animal, and ended on a remix of U2's Beautiful Day, which sent the crowd wild! The crowd were amazing, and no doubt this was my best gig ever!! I'm glad the crowd liked it, with one girl comign up to me at the end of my setand saying mine was the best set she had ever heard in a club, which I was delighted about!! We stayed around till 6, before retiring to bed! You can check the photos from both of these gigs in the gallery section of the site! On Sunday my mates left me to go back to Liverpool, and I stayed at my brothers in Oxted for a couple of nights, doing some record shopping at in Soho at my favourite record shop - BlackMarket Records.

I am delighted to announce this month that I have my first weekly radio residency on Halton FM! I will be playing my usual style of funky house, starting in October for 2 hours per week, with guest mixes each week, so as and when I receive more info on that I will let you know!!

I will also have a 30 minute guest mix on Anton Powers' Future Heroes section of his show on Juice 107.6FM in the next couple of weeks, so keep an ear open for that!

Next month I will be reporting on my gigs in Liverpool, Birmingham, London and Nottingham, until then.. Thanks for reading!
