House Party @ Swamp, Woo Hoo!

Reported by spacekitten / Submitted 17-10-03 16:46

LUCKILY I love birthdays ‘cos it seems every time I review a Swamp night there’s a birthday happening!

Friday 10th was Swamp co-founder Mad Phil’s birthday (he sez he had his most excellent birthday ever!), a mad stompin’, stormin’ affair with a stellar line-up of DJs and a totally up for it, friendly crowd including plenty of HFers (a big hello to everyone I met there!).

Swamp has been going for about a year and a half now and just gets better and better.

What started as a party for friends of the Swamp crew is still just that – only now they have lots more friends to play with, all mad keen for some dance floor mayhem.

Phil: “We try to keep our nights different from everyone else. We try to give it that friendly 'House Party' vibe, which works so well in the 414 because of it being such an intimate venue. “ It’s true; the fish tank’s there, all they need is a few more sofas and you could be at home…;-)

Swamp Productions work long and hard to give us something refreshingly different to the same old music (and same DJs) being dished up by some of the bigger clubs.

It’s the perfect combination - resident DJs/producers mixed with some well known guests coming together for some wild nights of hard, dirty, bangin’ nrg and beats…. If you want it hard, you’ll get it at Swamp! And that’s a promise!

Last Friday we had it all (and all ‘ad it!) with some of Swamp’s favourite residents - LK, SP, Mattie C, Group 185, Littleman and Mad Phil – along with special guest Kevin Energy, woo hoo!!!! Big up to ALL of you for such a blinding night!

The atmosphere was fantastic with people hardly leaving the dance floor from start to finish.

And having the hard n fast beats of live PA Group 185 and Kevin Energy on the one night went down an absolute treat with the crowd (a repeat performance Swamp, pleeeeeeease?)

Swamp’s Mattie C was rapt with the success of the night: “Everyone played amazingly. L.K started the night off in true Swamp style, which set the mood and was continued and lifted throughout the night.

Poor Littleman had the tough job of playing after Group 185 and well, he made it look easy as pie!”

He did too, and it’s no easy feat to keep up the pace after a live PA! But, ever the consummate master of the decks, he treated us to a blinding set of his ‘hard trancey fatness’ before handing over to Mad Phil who just kept it coming solidly and was clearly having the time of his life on his birthday.

“ (This) Friday night was a long time coming, it’s been one of those parties that we have been waiting for such a long time! The night went with a 'bang' right from Start to Finish! And most of that is owed to the crowd who showed all of their committed support!

Kevin Energy is probably one of the biggest DJ's we have had to play for us, along side Ed Real who played in September!

We chose our line-up very carefully for this one, coz there's nothing worse than going from fast beats to slower ones!!!”

There was certainly nothing slow about Kevin Energy, playing his first Swamp gig and totally rockin the room. Undoubtedly one of the best DJs on the scene today, he just took it higher and higher and really got some noise goin’ down in the last set of the night. And what did he think of Swamp?

“I really had a fun time, it filled all of my expectations! There was a good, noisy and up for it crowd combined with a really relaxed and friendly vibe.

Mattie C and Phil are a great, organised team who sure know how to put on a rockin’ party!”

Last word of the night goes to Mattie: “Big thanks to everyone involved and to all who made it down to help us party! Spot on! It was truly such an enjoyable evening, and myself and all the crew had so much fun, which is what we are all about at Swamp!

Swamp continues their cavalcade of stompin’ parties with their next night on Friday 7 November when they go head to head with da Dirty Djs @ 414.

Mattie C(Hooked On Records, Swamp) B2B Jim Wild (Dirty DJ's)
Tin Tin (Dirty DJ's) B2B Flake (Hooked On Records, Swamp)
Pascal D (Swamp) B2B Shaf De Bass (Dirty DJ's, Oblivion)
Chris Vincent (Dirty DJ's , Afterlife) B2B Mad Phil (Swamp, Obsession)

It’s gonna be wild, it’s gonna be messy, it’s gonna be swampy n dirty. BE THERE
