Tidy Revolution - 1 year on! Our intrepid reporter visits Magna Revolution.

A four and a half hour journey. One car. No stereo...
Every so often, it’s good to have a change. And Sheffield, when compared with London, is most definitely "a change". Firstly, we have the change in accent, which I have to say, took some getting used to. Next the cleaner streets, always welcome. And finally, in my opinion, more attractive people! 
As a venue, I cannot sum up Magna in one word. There is too much to cover. I have seen some venues in my time, however none that can be compared; it’s in a league of it’s own. Situated near Junction 33 of the M1, the huge metal building with roughly 40 ft high ceilings cannot be missed. Car park outside, a not very long VIP queue and an initial atmosphere filled with excitement. The adventure felt like it had already started as we arrived. The event ran from 9 pm – 6 am, car park opening at 7 pm. Security searches were much the same as in London, whilst the Tidy crew and promoters gathered outside to meet and greet. Oh, and wrap up warm. Brrrrrrr.
The rather rude ‘F’ word began to escape from my mouth several times as we entered the venue and we were given the grand tour of where we would be spending the night. Seeing is believing! With an almost ‘Star ship Troopers / Futurama’ feel to it, the huge metal structure and spectacular surroundings are spectacular. But don’t take my word for it - Go yourself! 
Tidy always delivers upbeat, banging and driving music, causing disciples from all over to skip, jive and cyber dance to their events, wherever the location. Londoners, Scottish, and those close to home in Sheffield gathered to see the likes of Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Paul Glazby, Mark EG, Jon Doe and Slipmatt to name just a few from the long list of ‘A’ class entertainers.

In consideration of this being such an enormous venue, it wasn’t as compact as initially anticipated, which is always a bonus as to be squashed up against a sweaty, gurn - ing mess in a dark corner, is not always favoured. Never the less, the numbers were more than sufficient, and characters could be seen for miles around. Drinks were priced at London prices, no change there then, whilst the memorabilia stalls were situated along with vinyl and food (shock horror), nearby to another set of toilets (we can never have enough toilets).
Right, enough of the facts and figures! What about the all-important music?
Without meaning to start off on a bad note, and this is in no means bad, but rather a hiccough, the failure of lack of bass during the Tidy Boys peak time set, culminated in an array of clubbers standing looking baffled and, on occasion tapping a foot or wiggling their behind. Still, it happens, and it did not take away the adventurous attitude that both the talented and amusing DJ’s have.
Lisa Lashes played a surprisingly good set, with a driving force and upbeat tracks that conflicted with my preconceptions.
With so many DJ’s performing throughout the night, it was hard to run from one room to another without it feeling like ten minutes, but this added to the exciting journey and adventures in between. However, glances of Jon Doe and Lee Haslam proved beneficial the positive feedback heard all night, whilst the impressive laser display during Paul Glazby’s set topped it off.
Mark EG never ceases to amaze, with his unique, pounding, yet non-irritating sound, which would make even your mother get up and have a dance. The show continued into the early hours. Excellent!

To travel over 9 hours, pay for a hotel, pre and after drinks, and let’s not forget food – well, it would have to be justified. And I can say, with hand on heart, this event was well worth it!
Tidy pulled it off with their usual style. Tidy Weekender 6 is fast approaching, and I think I can get used to the Northern accent.
This surely was a Magna Revolution.
