HarderFaster Awards 2008 - Did your vote count?

Well it’s that time of year again when we find out who are the movers and shakers in the world of Harderfaster. The elves we stole from Santa have been slaving away through the night at HF towers to collate your votes and sometimes work out what the hell people were trying to say.
As usual some people took the opportunity to waste their vote with answers ranging from the daft to the down right weird including plenty of votes for someone called “Dunno” and the best new venue listed as “my front room”. However there were still plenty of sensible votes to go round and we think the results are representative of how the HF community really feels.
Showing that HarderFaster is becoming more international, this year saw an interesting increase in votes from South Africa so a well done to all involved from that part of the world. As it was a generally quiet year for clubbing some categories were understandably low on votes, most notably best new event and new venue however pretty much everything else was well covered.
As usual we’ve listed all the clear winners with an honourable mention to those who we felt deserved it. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, the results of the HarderFaster Awards 2008.

HarderFaster Club Night of the Year 2008
Which was the best overall promotion of the year?
Winner: Zoology
The Zoo team show some staying power and remain in top spot. Honourable mention goes to Puzzle Project who pushed them all the way.

Others
HarderFaster Festival of the Year 2008
What was your favourite festival of 2008?
Winners: SW4
South West Four takes it again with a huge margin. The party in the park with some of the biggest names in dance makes this the obvious favourite.
Honourable mention to Glade.
HarderFaster Venue of the Year 2008
What was your favourite clubbing venue in 2008?
Winner: 414
With further improvements it's difficult to see the much loved 414 ever beaten for top spot. If you still haven't been then it's probably time.
Honourable mentions to Ministry of Sound and Union.
HarderFaster New Venue of the Year 2008
What was your favourite new venue in 2008?
Winner: Union
2008 was a tough year for venues everywhere, however the Vauxhall club takes top honours with a complete sound and lighting refit.
Honourable mention to Matter.
HarderFaster Content
HarderFaster Photographer of the Year 2008
Who was the best contributor to HarderFaster's Photo section?
Winner: Daf
It seems there is no-one to touch him. Daf balances a fine combination of knowledge and talent behind the lens to win by a huge margin.
Honourable mention to Vixta.
HarderFaster Feature Writer of the Year 2008
Who was the best contributor to HarderFaster's Feature section?
Winner: Adam Symbiosis
Our very own editor is voted favourite as Adam's infectious enthusiasm carries him through yet again.
Honourable mention for HF staff writer K8-e.
HarderFaster Review Writer of the Year 2008
Who was the best contributor to HarderFaster's Tune Review section?
Winner: Dean Zone
Mr all things Euro Zone continues from last year with another top spot, closely followed with an honourable mention for Steve Milton (AKA Nomi Sunrider). These are the chaps that have their finger on the pulse and if a track is worth buying then these guys will be the ones to let you know.
HarderFaster Thread of the Year 2008
Which was your favourite thread of 2008?
Winner: Motivational Posters by The New Black
It may not have carried the scandal of previous years but with over 1300 replies and plenty of laughs it seemed to be "made of win", well you though so anyway.
Honourable mention goes to Donnie and his Cockface thread. We're saying no more.
HarderFaster Member Awards
HarderFaster Member of the Year 2008
Who was your favourite overall HarderFaster member in 2008?
Winner: Donnie
Love him or hate him he's sure to raise a reaction. With his house brick subtlety, new world gentry fashion and drunken antics there's always something for him to talk about.
Honourable mention to the growling Bear Grrr. R.
HarderFaster Intellectual of the Year 2008
Which HarderFaster member gave you food for thought in 2008?
Winner: Benedict
Mr Brainbox strikes again! Perhaps not as prolific as in previous years, Benedict still put in enough time to show who has the most efficient brain cells. Whether it's the flying spaghetti monster or world affairs he's the man in the know.
HarderFaster Redeemed Member of the Year 2008
The member who in your eyes has redeemed themselves the most.
Winner: Neonblue
Dradis contact, launch Vipers, set guns to full auto and spool up FTL drive! HF's own SciFi geek makes an impact where it really matters. He's definitely not ginger and he knows how to look after himself so beware!
Honourable mention to previous bad boys PonyBoy. and The New Black along with Donnie.
HarderFaster Party Animal of the Year 2008
Who was HarderFaster's party animal in 2008?
Winner: Webbo
Showing no signs of slowing down in his old age, once again Webbo shows the youngsters how to party hard.
Honourable mention to Adam Symbiosis, our very own Animal.
HarderFaster Smoothest Operator of the Year 2008
Who was HarderFaster's smoothest operator during 2008?
Winner: Donnie
The chicks love a scoundrel. Not satisfied with taking member of the year Donnie shows he's not just a one trick pony. He'll admit he may not have had the best of years with the ladies away from HF but on-line the fans are there in force.
HarderFaster The Dark Side of the Year 2008
Which HarderFaster member did you love to hate in 2008?
Winner: Sunnyside
What can we say, quite a close call this . . . oh who are we kidding, no it wasn't. With last year's winner taking a leave of absence it was Sunnyside who stepped into the Dark Side shoes for 2008. Perhaps things might lighten up in 2009?
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is it. Thanks to all who took time to vote and here's to a successful 2009. We'll be continuing with our improvements and updates so stay tuned, stay safe and party hard.
